The HMD Fusion was launched in September 2024 and is the sixth smartphone to be released under the HMD brand (HMD also makes Nokia phones). It follows the Skyline released in July 2024, the Vibe released in June 2024, and the Pulse line released in April 2024.The Fusion is available in the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Latin America.

The HMD Fusion introduces smart outfits, which allow the core phone to be upgraded and customized. The base price for the core phone is $299 or €249.

The Fusion Explorer/X1 and Fusion Barça are the same device as the Fusion, sharing identical core hardware, but HMD differentiates them through branding, preloaded content, bundled accessories, and design elements. The Fusion Explorer/X1 is specifically tailored for younger users, with features like parental controls, GPS tracking, and app management. The Fusion Barça, on the other hand, is a collector’s edition created for FC Barcelona fans, featuring exclusive team-themed content, engraved signatures, and a match day "Detox Mode" to enhance the fan experience.

The HMD Fusion can be identified by the model number TA-1640, TA-1643, TA-1648, or TA-1658, which is written on the back of the phone in the bottom-left corner. You can also find the model number by navigating to Settings > About phone.

The HMD Fusion is also identifiable by sixteen visible screws and the text “HMD” and “Human Mobile Devices” on the back cover. The core phone is only available in Noir and includes a transparent outfit.
